Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto arrived in Beijing for a three-day visit to China. Prabowo is visiting China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. He will hold talks with Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang and others to exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated earlier that Prabowo made China the first country he visited after being elected as president, which fully reflects the high level of relations between the two countries. The two sides will further consolidate traditional friendship and deepen all-round strategic cooperation.
Prabowo, 72, is Indonesia’s current defense minister. The Indonesian Election Commission recently announced that in the presidential election held last month, he and his deputy, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo, received 58.2% of the votes and were elected as president and vice president by a high margin. Prabowo will be sworn in in October.
