Wang Yi meets with Yasuo Fukuda and hopes Japan will do more things that are beneficial to regional peace

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former Japanese Prime Minister and former Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia Yasuo Fukuda in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that the current international situation is intertwined with chaos and unstable factors have significantly increased, but Asia generally maintains peace and stability and has bright development prospects. It is hoped that Japan and other regional countries will do more things that are conducive to regional peace and stability, rather than the opposite, and work with China to safeguard the overall peace and development of Asia.

Wang Yi said that he hoped that Japan and China would meet each other halfway, grasp Sino-Japanese relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, seriously and properly handle issues that hinder the normal development of bilateral relations such as the discharge of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water into the sea, and adhere to the established direction of peaceful development. Jointly promote the stable and healthy development of China-Japan relations.

Yasuo Fukuda said that Japan-China friendship is a common and inevitable choice for both countries, and Japanese companies hope to invest and operate in China. Japan is willing to work with China to enhance mutual understanding, strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, jointly promote Japan-China strategic and mutually beneficial relations, and jointly maintain the good momentum of peace, stability, and prosperity in Asia.
