North Korea says it successfully test-fired new medium- and long-range hypersonic missile

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korea, under the guidance of leader Kim Jong Un, successfully test-fired a new medium- and long-range hypersonic ballistic missile that uses solid fuel.

This is North Korea's first test-fire of the "Hwasong Cannon 16B" medium- and long-range solid-fuel ballistic missile. The purpose of the test is to verify the overall design and technical characteristics of the missile and test the reliability of the weapon system.

Kim Jong-un said that another strategic attack weapon that can demonstrate North Korea’s superiority in defense technology was born. This achievement enables North Korea to realize the full application of solid fuel in all levels of tactical, operational and strategic missiles, and has the ability to carry controllable warheads and nuclear weapons.
